- About Paducah
See a new marker commemorating the Trail of Tears National Historic Trail water route. Paducah witnessed the passage of four of the 17 Trail of Tears detachment and is one of few water route sites where detachments are known to have stopped. During mid-winter 1838-1839 the detachment headed by Gustavas Drane stopped in Paducah to purchase supplies along with the Cherokee's Principal Chief John Ross.
