"In November 2011, I was honored to present Paducah’s bid for inclusion in the United Nations Educations, Scientific & Cultural Organization’s (UNESCO) Creative Cities Network at the annual conference in Seoul, Korea. I remember presenting between the mayors of Sapporo, Japan, and Jaipur, India. Paducah was admitted into the network in 2015 as a Creative City of Crafts and Folk Art. Being an active member in UNESCO Creative Cities Network led to an appointment in 2016 by United States Secretary of State John Kerry to serve on the U.S. National Commission for UNESCO.  The U.S. National Commission for UNESCO is a Federal Advisory Committee to the Department of State on issues of Education, Science, Communications and Culture."
