Paducah, Kentucky's recent UNESCO Creative Cities Network designation has opened the door for an exciting partnership with fellow Creative City, Bologna, Italy. JoyCut will perform at Paducah’s Maiden Alley Cinema (MAC) on March 5 as part of the band’s “PiecesOfUs” tour.

“Maiden Alley Cinema brings in international films during the River’s Edge International Film Festival, so why not music,” said Landee W. Bryant-Greene, MAC Executive Director. “Paducah’s support of culture and the arts is truly an inspiring thing, and we are so pleased to be a part of it.”

JoyCut produces a mesmerizing and conceptual sound based on dilated and biting electro sound. The trio recently opened and toured with such bands as The Editors, Art Brut, Modest Mouse, Arcade Fire and Sebadoh. The trio’s U.S. and Canadian tour is in support of their third album, PiecesOfUsWereLeftOnTheGround (released on Italy’s largest record label, IRMA, in 2013) and centered around their selection for South By Southwest, one of just two Italian bands to be selected thus far.

Maiden Alley Cinema can’t wait to welcome a new genre of music to the stage.  The Music @ MAC series features JoyCut on Wednesday, March 5 and the Hooten Hallers, Whistle Pigs and JD Wilkes & The Dirt Daubers on Friday, March 7. Tickets are available at www.maidenalleycinema.org.

The United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) designated Bologna a City of Music in May 2006 and Paducah a City of Crafts & Folk Art in November 2013. The Creative Cities Network aims to create new opportunities to showcase diverse cultural assets and creativity on a global platform.

The United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) designated Paducah the world's seventh City of Crafts and Folk Art in November (press release here).
