Paducah Convention & Visitors Bureau Sales Director, Fowler Black, is the recipient of the 2014 ConnectSPORTS Sports Tourism Excellence Award: CVB & Sports Commission of the Year - Services and Support. This award recognizes a sports tourism professional with the ability to orchestrate an entire community to serve a sporting event.
Patrick Higgins, Director of ConnectSPORTS noted that Black’s commitment made a positive impact for CollClubSports which hosted the National Club Baseball Association (NCBA) Division II World Series in Paducah for the second year in May 2014.
“The sports tourism industry, works because of its people,” said Higgins. “The people make the magic happen and it’s the people that make memories for visitors while simultaneously serving hospitality communities.”
Nominees represented sports tourism professionals from markets of all sizes for supporting many different events throughout the past year. Black was selected for the honor by a unanimous vote by the ConnectSPORTS Executive Advisory Committee and will be honored in front of industry peers at the ConnectSPORTS Marketplace on August 22 in Orlando, Florida.
CollClubSports recently announced that the NCBA Division I World Series will be held at Paducah’s Brooks Stadium in 2015 and 2016.
