The fiber art fun begins at The Homeplace ahead of AQS QuiltWeek - Paducah! Join the Wild and Wooly sheep shearing at the Homeplace at Land Between the Lakes! After a long year of growing their wool to keep them warm in the winter our sheep are ready for a haircut.

  • Gary Lawson a professional sheep shearer is hear today to demonstrate the age old skill of hand shearing. Come by and see our sheep in their new haircuts for the warmer months to come! This program concludes with the name reveal for our two new sheep.
  • Brand New Fleeces: Whatever “wool” we do? - HOMEPLACE *Ideal for home educators. Now that the sheep had their haircuts, the work begins! Every hand is needed to help with picking, scouring, and carding the fresh new fleeces. Then sit by the spinning wheel as it turns, turns, turns and watch the spinner turn the curly fleece into yarn.
  • Meet And Greet The Sheep - HOMEPLACE *Ideal for home educators On shearing day, The Homeplace’s heritage breed sheep are in the spotlight! While the barber is away at lunch, take the time to meet these sheepish stars up close and personal and learn more about them and why they are on the farm.
