'Parallel' chronicles Watkins' real time emotions during her stay at Paducah, Kentucky's historic African-American Hotel Metropolitan. She navigates the complexity of being celebrated as a black lesbian filmmaker, while feeling the history of being shunned. The film was made in 2016 during Paducah's inaugural Cinema Systers Film Festival, the only all-lesbian film festival in the USA.
Q & A session will follow, and a short film by the OUT Paducah Youth Group will be shown. Quilted prayer flags made by the OUT Paducah youth will be displayed in the Maiden Alley Cinema lobby at 6 PM.
All ticket sales will be split evenly between Hotel Metropolitan and Cinema Systers Film Festival
