AQS QuiltWeek – Paducah and the LowerTown Art & Music Festival have been selected as two of the Kentucky Travel Industry Association’s Top 10 Festivals & Events for Spring 2014.

Paducah, Kentucky will transform to Quilt City USA® April 23-26, when 30,000 artists and art enthusiasts come together for the 30th Anniversary of AQS QuiltWeek – Paducah. The 2014 QuiltWeek will feature a 30th anniversary celebration, 42 of the most highly sought-after quilting instructors teaching workshops at the AQS School of Quiltmaking and a full line-up of special events to honor innovative and talented artists in the quilt world.

The LowerTown Art & Music Festival celebrates the cultural richness of Western Kentucky with the region’s most outstanding visual, performing and culinary arts. The free festival features more than 50 visiting artists along with open studios and galleries of LowerTown’s resident artists, live music on three outdoor stages and a Taste of Paducah with local food vendors.

“Festivals influence people’s idea of a city’s identity,” said Mary Hammond, Paducah Visitors Bureau Executive Director. “Paducah’s festivals offer authentic cultural experiences with quality content that reflect the nature of the community and act as conduit to promote economic activity.”

A panel of impartial judges selects the Kentucky Travel Industry Association Top 10 Festivals & Events for each season. Criteria for selection include popularity of the event, its impact on the local tourism economy as well as cultural and historical significance.
