Advancing the Art. Expanding the Vision.
Celebrating 20 years! View the elegant displays at the 30,000-square-foot contemporary structure highlighting the vigorous rebirth of quiltmaking that began in the 1970s. Enjoy quilts and the stories they tell throughout the year. The Museum showcases contemporary, miniature, and antique quilts in its impressive facility, which was custom-built and designed for optimal exhibition of quilts. The lobby features quilt patterned stained glass windows and an exciting gift and bookshop.
United States Representative Ed Whitfield announced on May 17, 2008, that a congressional designation had been passed naming Paducah's Museum of the American Quilter's Society as the National Quilt Museum of the United States. The museum was founded by quilt enthusiasts Bill & Meredith Schroeder in 1991 to promote and "honor today's quiltmaker."
Quilting's most celebrated artists conduct workshops at the Museum throughout the year. The Museum store offers Kentucky Crafted items and quilt-related instructional and collector books.
