Quilting

Paducah's history in quilts and quiltmaking is rich and deep. As a folk art, Kentucky's quiltmaking has been preserved and passed on primarily through community traditions. Over the last quarter of a century, folk art and "domestic arts" have evolved into hip art expressions and the quilt has been reborn as a vibrant, provocative collectible. Paducah embraces this broad spectrum of quiltmaking by preserving time-honored traditional designs and methods while simultaneously acknowledging and encouraging the art quilt movement.

Flowing with creativity and inspiration, Paducah resembles a quilt in many ways. The vibrant rivertown is a patchwork of quilt and fabric shops - including Hancock's of Paducah and an array of others offering the latest in equipment and embellishments that take your creations to the next level. Many of quilting's brightest stars offer hands-on fiber art experiences in both LowerTown and Historic Downtown. Exciting workshops are taught by some of quilting's most celebrated artists at the National Quilt Museum year round.
